Basic Surgical Principles: Incision and Suturing

The aim of this course is to enable people with little or no previous experience in oral surgery to safely start intraoral surgery. In order to perform the surgical procedure safely, a good theoretical knowledge of the principles of incision and suturing is required. Technical details of scalpel tip, tissue forceps, porteguette, periosteal elevator and suture materials used in intraoral surgery will be discussed. The first 30 minutes of the training will cover the details of the use of these equipment. In the remaining 90 minutes, each trainee will first make an incision on the sheep leg with incision principles. After the incision, sutures will be applied with at least 2 different suture materials.
