Istanbul Dental Academy was founded in 2018 in Fatih-Old Town, Istanbul by academic dentists. During nearly a year of technical development, we completed the R&D and production of our custom-designed training units that simulate a dental chair.
Our hands-on training units, designed for wet lab work, were built to include both a drainage system and a compressed air system. The testing of our custom-designed training units has been successfully completed.
IDA is the first independent applied training center established in Turkey for dentists. Our first training course, the Laminate Veneer Course, was held on January 25–26, 2019, under the instruction of Prof. Dr. Aslihan Ushumez.
In September 2019, our first live surgery training, titled ‘Double Immediate Implant Placement – Implant in One Day’ conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tugrul Sari and Dr. Kenan Nazaroglu, was successfully completed.
The hands-on course on Anterior Composite Restorations, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Yasa on January 18, 2020, was successfully completed.
As IDA, we had our first international exhibition experience by participating in AEEDC Dubai—one of the world’s leading dentistry fairs—with the support of UMG Uysal Medikal.
Since 2022, IDA has been operating at its new centrally located facility in Istanbul, offering a modern 750 m² training space.
We signed an educational collaboration agreement with the Faculty of Dentistry at Sigmund Freud University.
At IDEX Istanbul 2023, held at the Istanbul Expo Center between May 25–28 with 85,000 visitors, we contributed with a total of 44 training sessions.
At IDEX Istanbul 2024, held at the Istanbul Expo Center between May 8–11 with 94,000 visitors, we contributed with a total of 20 training sessions.
Upon the invitation of Prof. Dr. Bill Sharpling, Vice Dean of the King's College Faculty of Dentistry and Director of the LONDEC Continuing Education Centre, Dr. Kenan Nazaroglu and Dr. Dilek Guvenc visited the institution on behalf of Istanbul Dental Academy.

We have successfully conducted our advanced course on Temporomandibular Joint management and occlusal re-establishment for experienced dental practitioners under the instruction of Prof. Dr. Camillo D’Arcangelo.
