Microscope-Assisted Root Canal Shaping Protocol in Clinical Practice

This course is designed for dentists and senior dental students who wish to improve their knowledge and clinical skills in the field of endodontics. It includes a series of theoretical sessions and hands-on practical exercises. The course is conducted with microscope support.

Day 1 – Theoretical Session
During the morning session of the first day, clinical decision-making mechanisms that determine success in endodontic treatment will be discussed. Criteria related to restorative feasibility, technical difficulty in case selection, and prognosis assessment will be addressed. In addition, following the principle that “anatomy determines the system,” the course will cover access cavity design, key considerations in working length determination, and the biomechanical principles of irrigation.

Day 1 – Hands-on Session
In the afternoon session, theoretical knowledge will be translated into practical application. Participants will practice creating a safe glide path using hand files and learn how to evaluate root canal anatomy. This will be followed by controlled canal shaping using rotary systems with a focus on taper awareness. Using resin training models, participants will perform apical analysis and shaping protocols, experiencing the differences between .04 and .06 taper preparations.

Day 2 – Theoretical Session
The second day will focus on the management of variational canal anatomy. Topics will include the risk of transportation in curved canals, the clinical characteristics of oval canals, and modern irrigation activation methods. During the practical demonstration session, the instructor will show techniques for curved canal management and minimal invasive preparation strategies.

Day 2 – Hands-on Session
Participants will perform irrigation activation and oval canal preparation on specially prepared models. All practical exercises will be carried out under instructor supervision, and the training will be completed with individualized feedback for each participant.
