A Microscope-Assisted Root Canal Shaping Protocol for Clinical Practice
This course is an intensive microscope-assisted hands-on training program specifically designed for dentists and final-year dental students who wish to enhance their knowledge and clinical skills in endodontics.
**Day 1 – Theory**
During the morning session of the first day, participants will explore the clinical decision-making process that determines success in endodontic treatment, including case selection, restorative and technical difficulty assessment, and prognosis evaluation. Following the principle of *'Anatomy determines the system,'* topics such as access cavity design, working length determination, and the biomechanical principles of irrigation will also be covered.
**Day 1 – Hands-on**
In the afternoon session, the theoretical concepts will be translated into practical application. Participants will learn how to establish a safe glide path using hand files and evaluate root canal anatomy through hands-on exercises. This will be followed by controlled canal shaping with rotary file systems, with particular emphasis on taper awareness. Using resin training blocks, participants will perform apical analysis and shaping protocols while experiencing the clinical differences between .04 and .06 taper preparations.
**Day 2 – Theory**
The second day focuses on the management of complex root canal anatomy. Theoretical sessions will cover the risk of canal transportation in curved canals, the clinical characteristics of oval canals, and modern irrigation activation techniques. During the demonstration session, the instructor will present clinical approaches to curved canal management and minimally invasive preparation techniques.
**Day 2 – Hands-on**
Participants will perform irrigation activation and oval canal preparation on specially designed training models. All practical sessions will be conducted under the direct supervision of the instructor, with individualized feedback provided throughout the course.

Initial Assessment and Decision-Making in Endodontic Treatment
Restorative Potential – “Is this tooth restorable?”
Periodontal and Support Status – “Can this tooth be maintained mechanically?”
Endodontic Complexity – “Is the treatment technically predictable?”
